In this discussion, we will be discussing how to recognize and recover from codependency, as well as handling rejection. Rejection is an inevitable part of life; all of us experience it at some point or another. However, it is not a reflection of our self-worth.
You’re still worth every bit as much as you would be if you had not been denied. Feel any feelings that go with rejection, as this is a necessary part of moving on. But don’t forfeit your self-esteem to another’s disapproval or rejection of who you are or what you’ve done.
Even if the most crucial person in your world rejects you, you are still real, you are relevant, and you are okay. If you’ve done something inappropriate or need to solve a problem or change a behavior, then do so. But accept yourself and don’t give so much power to other people’s rejection of you. It isn’t necessary. We don’t have to take things so personally.
Even the healthiest of relationships depend on both parties having their own identities and independence.
